1982-D Lincoln Cent - Accidental Copper Error

$10.00

Description

When this Lincoln Cent was made, the composition of the Lincoln Cent was being changed to feature the first Zinc cores plated in a thin layer of copper, to replace the previous iteration, which featured 95% copper and 5% zinc. Some copper planchets were used by accident or to save the hassle of recycling the material. Thus, error coins such as this one come along. If this mildly uncommon error were to be combined with the rare "Small Date" variety, this coin would be worth multiple thousands of Dollars. Alas, this one features the Large Date. However, it still makes for a neat collectible, as it was supposed to be made out of zinc.
