This is a bronze medal minted in 2007 by the United States Mint as part of a series honoring and commemorating the 1st Spouses of past Presidents. This medal was made to honor Thomas Jefferson's Presidency; however, instead of featuring his 1st spouse, Martha Jefferson, it features the draped bust of Liberty featured on old American coinage. This decision was made due to the fact that Martha Jefferson died years before Thomas Jefferson's Presidency. Next to the bust of Liberty is the date range of Thomas Jefferson's Presidency, and the Reverse side features the grave marker where Thomas Jefferson was buried on his property at Mount Vernon, and some text featured on it.
