This $1 coin was made in 2000 at the Philadelphia Mint. The Obverse side design features the Native American woman Sacagwea, carrying her infant son Jean Baptiste on her back. She was responsible for assisting the Lewis and Clark Expedition team as a translator and guide and is honored on this coin over 200 years later.
